TASTY BeautyWhey® ICE CREAM

TASTY BeautyWhey® ICE CREAM

The average American consumes almost 22 pounds of ice cream a year. In 2014, U.S. ice cream companies made more than 872 million gallons of ice cream. According to a study by Yahoo Food, Ice Cream is America’s favorite dessert.

Know what else ice cream does? Expand your waist line! Ice cream although delicious is made up of sugars, creams and milk. The average calorie breakdown is 267 calories per one cup… that’s right, I said one cup! Who only eats one cup anyways!?! With nutritional facts like that it crosses ice cream off a competition prep plan or does it…

One night as I sat in bed reading and being very distracted by my husband enjoying his ice cream I knew I had to figure out a way to have ice cream too. I got to work in the kitchen the very next day playing with ingredients and simplifying it as much as possible to keep it prep friendly, low cal and nothing short of delicious. Read below for my favorite ice cream recipes…

BANANA ICE CREAM

BeautyWhey® Bombshell Banana

INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
  • Mix well with whisk or fork in a freezer safe bowl, cover with saran wrap and freeze for about an hour.
  • Pull out and mix well again making sure to really mash and mix as outer edges will be more frozen.
  • Evenly press ice cream on the bottom of the bowl, cover and freeze for another hour.
  • Give it another good mix and add any mix in’s you may want.

This recipe would be great with a nut butter, cocoa nibs, walnuts, coconut oil or all the above! I chose to keep it simple this time and really allow the banana to be the star. If you don’t add any mix in’s, it’s time to savor the delicious treat that feeds your muscles. If you chose to add them, pop it in the freezer for 30 more minutes before you enjoy.

CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM

BeautyWhey® Hawt Chocolate

INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
  • Mix well with whisk or fork in a freezer safe bowl, cover with saran wrap and freeze for about an hour.
  • Pull out and mix well again making sure to really mash and mix as outer edges will be more frozen.
  • Evenly press ice cream on the bottom of the bowl, cover and freeze for another hour.
  • Give it another good mix and add any mix in’s you may want.

In the last 30 minutes I added 1 tsp of coconut oil, mixed and froze. The coconut oil added a fun texture almost similar to a chocolate chip. This recipe would also be delicious with numerous mix in’s if desired.

If you just so happen to have an ice cream maker, it would make this process much easier by omitting all of the mixing and refreezing but I will work for ice cream!

BeautyWhey has many fun flavors with excellent taste without sacrificing quality. While America enjoys their ice cream, count me & my gains in!
